The Italian program at SCSU

Benvenuti! We are Italian at Southern Connecticut State University, a section of the Department of World Languages and Literatures.

The study of Italian has a long tradition at SCSU, and we are proud to feature a complete program of training in Italian language, literature and culture from the undergraduate to graduate levels.  Located in New Haven, Connecticut—an area with a rich legacy of American Italian culture—the Italian section at SCSU is committed to fostering an understanding of Italy’s vibrant past and an appreciation of its dynamic present day.

To that end, our faculty offer a wide range of courses that provide students with a solid preparation in a humanistic discipline, as well as develop their awareness of the modern culture of Italy, its heritage and impact on our world today.

For more about our undergraduate programs, which include an Italian minor, as well as B.A. and B.S. degrees (with or without the World Languages Certification), contact Dr. Pina Palma, Dr. Erin Larkin or Dr. Lisa Vitale.

For more about our M.A. degree in Romance Languages (Italian) contact Dr. Pina Palma.
